| Unibanco has a strong presence in this business, financing passenger cars, trucks
and buses through Unibanco Financeira and Banco Dibens (a joint-venture with Grupo
Verdi). These services are available at all of the bank's branches and service
centers; and through thousands of auto dealers across the country. The business in 2004 posted managerial income of R$45.3 million, closing the year with a R$3.7 billion loan portfolio, 31.2% higher than in 2003.
In addition to auto financing, Unibanco has, since 2000, offered vehicle purchasing
pool quotas in its branch network, through a joint deal with Unibanco-Rodobens
and Consórcio Nacional Ford. In 2004 there were R$777.1 million in quotas
sold, producing R$18.8 million in net earnings, which increased 18.2% from 2003.
